Richly oiled and embossed Italian leather.

The Trailmaster LTD features our unique top grain imported leather, richly oiled and embossed.

Building on the Trailmaster’s legacy, it features the same medium size platform and a rounded uninterrupted perimeter that is easy to get behind and move around without any sharp, snaggy edges. The heavy-stock leather adds a degree of firmness and an aspect of all-weather durability that is unmatched in standard leather tops. The LTD features medium/firm density foam with an extra thick nose for technical climbing and “body english”. A flat sitting area with a central relief promotes sitting on your bones. This saddle is mounted atop chromoly rails.

key features

Not all saddles are created equal.

LTD Editions

Keep an eye out for limited edition versions of our saddles. From time to time we do special small runs, with fancy graphics and different finishes and materials.

Durable Top

Our DT (Durable Top) is a synthetic covering for riders who see a lot of wet weather or for DH and Freeride applications where extra durability is needed.

Cro-Mo Rails

We use cr-mo (Chromoly Steel) rails on all of our saddles for tried and tested strength and durability.

Saddle FAQ's

For "trail" riding, a good rule of thumb is level with the ground on a flat surface. In other words, horizontal.

Tipping the nose down can aid in comfort on steep climbs, however DJ and DH riders tend to lift the nose above the horizontal, for extra leg control.

Yes! We have a demo fleet of saddles available at Chromag HQ in Whistler.

In short, yes.

Leather saddles can be treated with surface conditioners.  Check with your local hardware store, shoe maker or leather specialist for available products.  Note that different conditioners can have different effects on the leather (IE. softening or discoloration).  The user takes all responsibility for the results of any treatments applied to the saddle.

It’s important to know that the cover of a saddle is made of soft material and by that nature, it will start changing from the day you start using it.

Leather saddles are likely to go through more change than DT saddles.

You can read the full user guide here, but to avoid any kind of creaking, make sure the rails and the seatpost clamp are spotlessly clean!

If something is creaking, remove the saddle from the post and make sure the rails and clamps are clean. You'd be amazing what a bit of dirt can do.

As for the finish, any DT saddles don't really need any aftercare. However it's not a bad idea to treat any leather saddle with some high quality leather treatment from time to time (like you might use for leather gloves for example).

Classy and comfy

On my 3rd Trailmaster LTD, not that I've gone through them, but they're on 3 different bikes. They get better and smoother with age, and always bounce back after a mud affair. Plus a number of first time viewers have thought they were wood, so there's that :/.
Love this saddle!

Too bad

This is the worst seat ever. How is everyone saying it’s comfortable. It’s absolutely NOT. Did 3 x 10km rides over 4 days around town, and I had to take it off. It’s honestly terrible. Looks so good, but has zero comfort. Pretty upset I waited so long for this and it cost so much, to be disappointed.

Hi Andrew,
Sorry to hear this saddle wasn't for you. We want people to be stoked on our products and we'd like to find you a saddle that works. Please email me at orders@chromagbikes.com and we can figure something out for you.

Great saddles

Bought one 4 years ago. Still going strong. Bought another for second MTB. So good I was prepared to import it from Canada to UK. How about a UK distributor? The UK vat was quite spicy

Great for the Trails

I am a Chromag athlete. This saddle has been incredible over the last few seasons of trail riding. It is super comfortable on the climbs, but also out of your way on the descents. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and stylish saddle.

Seat rails look strong, finish is sweet. Also everyone at the bike park knows I’m cool because I have Chromag parts.

Wow

Hard to put into words the comfort of this saddle. Have been running the old ti railed version for close to 15 years on multiple bikes and it's still insanely functional and comfortable. Moved it to my gravel bike for a few century rides last summer and realizing I really need to get a few more for the other bikes in the quiver. Would love to see these offered with ti rails again. Carbon shell would be next level!
